Solar panel systems require a long list of fasteners for assembly and installation. Small PV panels are mounted with end brackets to create a flush application, and racking systems hold up larger panels and PV arrays for an adjustable system that allows for optimum airflow and durability.

These applications also require other, uncommon fasteners, including:

· Cable Ties – necessary to keep the electrical wiring neat and tidy (and to follow building code), cable ties come in various sizes. Made from stainless steel to resist corrosion, these ties are available in 6”, 8” and 14” lengths and must be installed with a special tensioning tool.

· Z-Brackets or Z-Fitting – used for flush-mount applications, these small brackets are shaped like a “Z” and secured with screws or bolts.

· EMT Clamps – used with a U-channel and racking system, these clamps are specially designed for use with Electrical Metallic Tubing applications.

· Mid Clip Clamp – designed to hold panels in place with minimal damage, these aluminum clips are secured with a bolt or screw.

· Grounding Connectors or Lugs – essential for any energy system, a grounding system requires connectors and lugs made with copper, aluminum and tin.

· Fastening Systems for Corrugated Roofs – EJOT solar panel fastening system and other products provide one-step solutions for contractors looking to install panels on corrugated and metal roofs.

· Spray Adhesive – although technically not a fastener, adhesive works on contact and bonds lightweight materials together to create a stable application able to last through any weather.

· T-bolts or Hammerhead Bolts – often custom made to suit your project, this base helps to secure perpendicular frame or racking components together.

· Mounting Block – shaped like a thick “U,” mounting blocks are used specifically for solar panel applications and come in aluminum for a sturdy, lightweight set up.

Creating and installing solar panel systems requires a long list of quality fasteners. Expert installers know whether a traditional mounting system will work, involving Z-fittings and mid clip clamps (flush mount), or mounting blocks and racking (roof-ground mounting system). All systems require grounding lugs and cable ties for safety, and your unique application may call for even more unique solar panel fasteners than those listed here.
