NUTS
A chain is utilized in a variety of applications from hanging equipment into a proper location or securing as an extra level of protection if a bolted assembly should fail.
SAMPLE BOLTS WE CARRY
Melfast can furnish virtually any bolts you can imagine. These are a sample of the kinds of bolts we typically distribute
Cap Nut
Providing a smooth finish on applications in a variety of industries, a cap nut may also be labeled an acorn nut. The cap covers a screw head to create a catch-free surface and presents the convenience of a hex-shaped nut for tightening and loosening. Melfast offers cap nuts in a range of sizes, from 1/4-20 through to 3/4-10, and materials, including alloy, stainless steel and titanium. Ask about platings available on certain materials.
Slotted Hex Nut
Slotted Hex nut is a nut it six sides with slots protruding at the circumference. The nuts “fit into each other” at the slots and the slotted hex nut is a popular industry fastener in industries like water treatment, steel fabrications, railroad construction, modular building and pump manufacturing. At Melfast, we produce state of the art slotted hex nuts in steel, brass and stainless steel in passivate and zinc (Clear) platings.
Serrated Flange Nut
Serrated flange nuts are nuts with a wide flange at the one end that acts as an integrated/non-spinning washer. These are mostly hexagonal in shape and are manufactured in hardened steel and usually coated in zinc and passive. It is one of the most popular nuts in industries like dry-dock repairing, marina docks, water treatment & purification, boat manufacturing, pallet racking hardware, modular building, office lighting fixtures and steel manufacturing.
Wing Nut
Designed for loosening and tightening by hand, a wing nut works well in easily accessible locations. Many industries rely on the flexibility of this fastener, including manufacturers and contractors working in alternative energy, water treatment, pumps and railroad construction. Ask about aluminum wing nuts for a lightweight, durable solution, or inquire about our grades of plated and stainless steel wing nuts.
4-Prong Nut
The 4-prong nut is a unique nut and has 4 “prongs” at the circumference. These nuts find a very specific use in industries that require fragile corners to be hinged and fastened together strongly. These nuts find extensive use in the housing and modular building industries and are primarily manufactured in steel and stainless steel. We provide the 4-prong nuts in zinc clear and passivate platings.
Cage Nut
Essential to rackmount manufacturers and those in the electronics industry, a cage nut provides a durable joint that fits snugly into a manufactured equipment cage. Pair cage nuts with compatible bolts to create a versatile system that stands the tests of load and time. Cage nuts are also referred to as clip nuts or captive nuts, and Melfast carries a wide range of sizes, materials and platings.
Nylon Insert Lock Nut
Nylon insert lock nuts belong to the smaller category of nuts and are used extensively in steel fabrications, railroad construction, pump manufacturing, modular building, alternate/renewable energy and water treatment. Melfast manufactures the best in class nylon insert lock nuts in steel, stainless steel, Monel Alloy and brass. We provide these nuts in platings including zinc (yellow, black and clear), Passivate, cadmium, Brass and black oxide.
Nutsert
Nutserts are typically utilized when access from behind or below is not available. By drilling a hole this item can be dropped in and crimped tight using a rivet gun creating a permanent insert to bolt or fasten a product in place.
Kep Nut
Kep Nut (or the K-nut) is a nut with an attached free-spinning washer in order to make the assembly more convenient. It is commonly used in industries like steel fabrication, railroad construction, pump manufacturing, modular building, water treatment and alternative industries. Manufactured in ordinary, 316 and 18-8 stainless steel, Melfast provides Kep nuts in zinc clear and passivate platings.
Center Lock Nut
Center lock nut is one of the most versatile industry fasteners and we supply it in a range of diameters ranging from 8-32 through 1-8. It finds use in almost every heavy engineering industry including water treatment and purification, train accessories, railroad construction, pump manufacturing, steel fabrication, door manufacturing, home and office furniture, boat manufacturing, alternate energy and mining equipment. We manufacture center lock nut in steel, carpenter and stainless steel and it is provided in zinc, passivate or cadmium platings.
Hex Nut
As the name suggests, a hex nut is a six-sided nut that is used in industries like steel fabrication, railroad construction, modular building and water treatment. At Melfast, we manufacture Hex nuts in a range of materials like zirconium, titanium, steel, Nitronic, Nickel, Monel, Inconel, brass, aluminum, alloy and stainless steel. The Hex Nut is available in a wide range of platings including Zinc (Yellow, Clear and black), Passivate, Galvanized alloy (mechanical and hot dipped) and black oxide.
